GOP HOUSE HEALTHCARE BILL PASSES (May 4th, 2017)

  • GOP House bill is sent to Senate for approval.
  • This House bill is still on the floor of the US Senate.
  • CBO scores the bill – says 23-million more will be uninsured under bill (May 24th, 2017)

GOP HEALTHCARE VERSION ONE IS PRESENTED (week of June 22nd, 2017)

MOVE AHEAD TWO MORE WEEKS (week of July 6th to July , 2017):

  • CBO scores bill version one a total failure – leaving 23-million more uninsured!!
  • GOP Senate would not vote; did not have the GOP votes to approve the original GOP Senate bill version one or the GOP Senate bill version two!!
  • GOP Freedom Caucus (extremists) Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Ron Johnson all say no vote because bill is to nice.
  • GOP moderates – Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski say bill will gut Medicaid and significantly increase no healthcare for poor.
  • GOP version one and version two guts Medicaid almost one-trillion dollars and spend this savings for tax cut to ultra-wealthy. Result of tax cut, 20-23 million more get no healthcare.

MOVE AHEAD ANOTHER TWO WEEKS (weeks of July 10-21):

  • CBO scores bill version two a total failure – leaving 20-million more uninsured!!
  • McConnell (and even lord Trump) make statements about moving on and forgetting health care repeal and replace. THEN ….
  • McConnell announces that the upcoming week, the Senate will vote to continue or not, on healthcare. Vote to occur Tuesday July 25.

ONE MORE – CURRENT WEEK (week of July 24):

  • Many Senators are unclear as to what a yes vote means will be debating; non one seems to know (what bill will be debated)?? As it turns out the technical answer is to begin debating the old GOP House bill from May, which Trump called mean.
  • Tuesday July 25th arrives and John McCain, 14-days after his own brain surgery, shows up to cast his vote. McCain makes a very important (if not pretty hypocrisy), speech. The final vote to begin open debate on repeal and replace the healthcare vote :: 50-50 plus one yes vote by VP mike Pence sets the flag to continue, healthcare, debate – on the “mean” GOP House Healthcare bill. GOP Senators Collins and Murkowski only, vote no to the continuance.
  • However, this process allows any Senator to introduce amendments to the debated bill, including its total repeal for a new on and everything in between.

Notes on McCain speech (July 25th on Senate floor):

  • Senate needs to stop partisan (tribal) mode politics
  • Senate is Trump’s equal, not his subordinate or servants

Wednesday:

  • Senate Votes on REPEAL and REPLACE ACA within TWO years after repeal. McCain, the “lets change to bipartisan” pretty-speech Senator, voted yes for this 100% partisan bill that CBO estimated would have left 24-million without healthcare!! – VOTE FAILED
  • Senate Votes on REPEAL ACA only – VOTE FAILED

*** the Wednesday Senate Vote by Senator ***

Thursday:

  • Senate is leading up to a vote on what is called SKINNY REPEAL.
  • The expectation is for a vote-a-rama in late afternoon or early evening and that this procedure will go into or through the night. The vote-a-rama is a traditional Senate procedure, a part of the conclusion to debate on a bill on the Senate floor.

and what will be next … stay tuned.
