Yesterday, Trump told a gathering of State Governors that “nobody knew health care could be so complicated.”
Oh right!! Nobody knew, REALLY?? The entire Democratic Congress knows, a select few Republicans in Congress, like Susan Collins know, most of the GOP in Congress know, now that they are faced with the reality of governing. We the majority certainly know that healthcare is complicated, most employer healthcare departments know, doctors know, even health insurers know, and certainly the Federal Department of Health and Human Services, whose mission, “protecting the health of all Americans”, knows, that healthcare is – complicated. Last, State Governors and State healthcare departments all know. The Governors are crying fowl right now because they want same as current healthcare services for their poor and sick – but paid by the Fed, not the States, as Trump has been suggesting (that the cost of healthcare will be tossed to the – States)!!

Hmmm, who did not know that healthcare could be this complicated??

  • Lord Zod trump and his cabinet circus of course!! I would have expected more of Dr. Tom Price??
  • What is silver-spooned Trump’s excuse for not knowing healthcare was – complicated??
  • “I know, I know”. He can’t read or write more than 140-characters and comprehend the content. Plus, Trump and friends are now a part of the elite Congress who get the best ever, lifetime healthcare, at taxpayer expense.

Who else has learned the fact that healthcare is beastly complicated?? Those in Congress who refused to even give a nod to working with Democratic Congress to craft a great healthcare bill or to improve it these last 8-years, are now learning that the words “repeal” and “replace” far from, get the job done. The GOP Congress have refused to lift a finger to improve our healthcare system since its very inception in late 2008, even before Obama took office. The GOP have for 8-years, presented a dysfunctional partisan rhetoric of illusion for a healthcare alternative (a 153-page plan was the GOP alternative in 2009, as I recall), all while screaming that the 2000-page ACA was so very unnecessarily – complicated. OOPS!!!

Back in 2009, GOP Congress were making statements about the priority of health for everyone. Sadly many conservatives (who by the way, all have their employer paid healthcare), feel that healthcare is a privilege, not a right; however, we the majority know that good health is no different than having food and water!! “Health care is a privilege.” – Zach Wamp (R-Tenn.)

This difference (a necessity or a privilege) is at the core of the conversation by we the people but the real answer is that the ACA, otherwise known as Obamacare, is looking an awful lot more desirable, now that the GOP has the power and realizes that their nasty rhetoric will not provide great, low cost healthcare. Now that GOP Governors realize that Trump is planning to throw the cost on – them (the States)!! The solutions don’t look so easy anymore eh??

In response to Trump stated plan to punt the cost of much of his “great new healthcare system”, to the States, many Governors are very concerned, especially in the many States who get more assistance from the Fed, than they provide in Federal taxes.

It’s a serious matter,” Kasich told reporters in Ohio last week. “Our hospitals needed Medicaid expansion. It has worked very well in this state.” The former GOP presidential candidate noted that about 700,000 Ohioans had secured coverage under the law, many of whom, he said, have serious health problems. “There’s room for improvement, but to repeal and not to replace, I just want to know what’s going to happen to all these people who find themselves left out in the cold,” Kasich said. — Ohio Gov. Kasich worried about Obamacare repeal
In Kasich’s recent meeting with Trump, “he said he discussed his ideas with Trump for reforming the Affordable Care Act and, within it, Medicaid, the joint federal-state program that insures the poor. The act allowed states to expand Medicaid so it covered people with incomes up to 138 percent of the poverty limit, or $16,243 a year for an individual. With the federal government paying the full cost until 2020, Ohio took advantage of that allowance, adding about 700,000 people to its Medicaid rolls.

Our Governors know that there are collective millions in many of the States receiving healthcare because of the ACA, and paid by Federal subsidies!! They do not want to see significant numbers of current healthcare recipients lose their healthcare because the State will have to pay for it and does not have the budget. This is a GOP conversation, with itself – who pays?

Trump is learning that healthcare cannot be repealed-replaced or even improved in 140-characters!! That is exactly what Trump’s “nobody knew it was so complicated” statement means but it was just “why Trump did not realize”.
