Trump is out with his “first” budget.
No surprises here; can be stated almost as easily as his reckless and deplorable one-page tax reform plan.
A quote from the CNN author, I felt was very apropos on fact that GOP has slammed Obama so hard for so many years, over his accomplishing exactly what they now say they will accomplish but are going in the opposite direction. That is in fact, the definition of “alternative fact”.
“Even without Trump’s proposal, spending on non-defense discretionary programs is already historically low. As a share of the economy it’s at its lowest level since 1998 and is well below where it was 50 years ago, according to data from the Congressional Budget Office.” — Jeanne Sahadi, CNN Money
So Obama plans had non-defense spending already at historic lows. Now Trump is planning what? Here are the highlight items in the Trump budget:
- more for military spending
- build the Trump wall
- add to border security
- an intended tax giveaway to the top most wealth
How does Trump propose to do these budget adds? Well, it’s the usual.
- slashes to safety nets
- slashes to education
- slashes to science, and research
I think the term that is being bounced around does fit the old horse. “Take from the poor to give to the rich”. Another aspect MIA from the Trump budget is infrastructure spending or – JOBS SPENDING!!
